It is very important to prepare for your vacation properly. You may responsibly take care of all the bookings and travel plans to ensure that your family reaches the vacation spot in a safe and secure manner. However, what about the various preparations that your child has to carry out?

If your child is very young, you may plan for his or her vacation on your own. However, a teenager might insist on drawing up the plan on his or her own. In such a scenario, you should let your teenager child prepare independently.

Chances are high that your child may forget one or important things to pack in the luggage. Try to keep track of the list on your own but make sure you do not interfere until the very end. Even when you do, do not try to make it sound as if you have been keeping track of the child in secret. Rather, make it seem as if you too had forgotten the object and that it just struck you at the last moment.

The primary reason why you are going on vacation is to have fun with your family. Ensuring that your teenager learns the importance of proper preparations on trips will be a smart move. If your child intends to study outside, the vacation may be the perfect time to find out how independent he or she can be. Rather than letting your child commit mistakes when leaving for college, you would do well to help him or her learn using these vacations. Family is one of the most important social bonds. You should do your best to bond with your family members properly. You may have understood the importance of your efforts at a later date when your family was there to help you when things got tough. Friends may not stick around when life takes a turn for the worse. Camping and trekking can be a whole lot of fun. Spending time in the wilderness, close to nature, having to rely on your most basic instincts, all have a great trill about them. Thousands of Americans enjoy backpacking adventures every year. However, several more try backpacking for the first time. If you are a first time backpacker, there are certain things you will need to keep in mind before embarking on your adventure. Here are some tips!

 

  1. Maps are crucial for any kind of first time travelling. For backpackers, get a map that contains the latest details of the terrain that you will visit. It should have details such as locations of tourist contact centers and other landmarks as well as smaller details that will help you get around.
  2. Draw up an estimate of how long it will approximately take you to get to your camp site. Remember to add a little extra time in case you face any delays.
  3. Most wildlife and nature reserves have their own set of rules and regulations. Conduct an in-depth research and make sure you have all the necessary permits so that you don’t have to pay fines.
  4. Make sure you know what kind of whether to expect at a given time of the year. Also keep track of weather reports and be prepared for bad weather.
  5. You will be sweating a lot if you are going trekking so dress appropriately. Wear durable, weather proof clothes and sturdy, easy to walk and climb in shoes.

Knowing what to pack is a major part of preparing for travel. People often tend to carry a whole lot of unnecessary baggage, packing things that they just won’t use during their vacation. Clothes form a major part of the things that you pack for a vacation and you need to know exactly what and how much to carry! Here are some tips:

 

  1. Anyone who has any sense of fashion will always want to coordinate accessories with the color of the dress they are wearing. If you are carrying 7 to 8 different shades of colors, then you will need to carry coordinated shows, handbags, jewelry and more. That’s a lot to carry when travelling! Instead, form a basic palette than require fewer accessories.
  2. Limit the number of clothes you carry and launder them in case you are taking along vacation. You might be buying clothes from the place you are visiting and will need space for them too!
  3. Washable silk clothing is by far the best if you are travelling to moderate climate places. Silk can naturally keep your warm as well as cool and takes far lesser space in a bag than cotton or wool!
  4. Try packing old clothes that can be used and discarded during the trip. People in poorer countries are more than happy to receive such clothes from travelers and you will have more space to pack with newly bought stuff!
  5. Jeans and denim may be very comfortable but take far too longer to dry off after laundering. Instead, carry pants, trousers and Capri shorts made from breathable, easy to wash and dry  stretch material.

Traveling is fun and is a great stress buster. Most people make it a point to take a vacation at least once a year. While some prefer relaxed, beach side holidays, others prefer more adventurous vacations.   1. Use the internet to conduct research about the place that you will be travelling to. Get to know about the most common crimes, in particular, those committed against tourists.
  2. It’s your duty to know and follow the law of the land. So educate yourself about them beforehand.
  3. If you are planning to stay at a place for over two weeks, make sure you register yourself with the nearest US embassy and keep them informed about your stay arrangements, travel plans and contact details.
  4. Get to know the culture of the place that you are travelling to and try your best to blend in. You should know what kind of behavior or dressing is considered unacceptable by the locals and should avoid these entirely.
  5. Look up hotels and transportation providers beforehand and choose one that is reputed to be safe and reliable.
  6. If you are carrying any valuable, keep them at a safe at the hotel and not in your room where they might get stolen.
  7. Don’t carry large amounts of cash around. It is better to carry a credit or debit card instead of cash.
  8. Avoid travelling alone or going to lonely places. Always stay at localities where there are lots of people around.
  9. Don’t reveal you travel plans to strangers.
